Buying, mounting, and maintaining your Blackbird suppressor. Anything not covered here reaches the people who built it.
Q01How do I buy a Blackbird suppressor?+
Three ways. Buy through one of our dealers, have your dealer get set up with us or one of our distributors, or buy direct from this website. Direct orders are fulfilled through our partner Capitol Armory, who handles the entire NFA transfer. The whole process is walked through step by step on our Buy Direct page.
Q02How long does ATF approval take, and how will I know when it is approved?+
Current ATF lead times typically run 2 to 3 weeks. Once your transfer is approved, your dealer will notify you and you take possession from them.
Q03Are suppressors legal in my state?+
The map on our Dealers page shows the states where NFA items are sold. If you are in an NFA-eligible state, we can get a suppressor to you.
Q04Can I use my own local dealer instead of Capitol Armory?+
Yes, if your dealer is set up with us directly or with one of our distributors. If they are not yet, have them reach out through our contact form to obtain dealer status.
Q05How do I choose between the F556 and the F762?+
Each can is optimized for its cartridge, and both scale extremely well beyond it. The F762 sounds fantastic on 5.56, and the F556 runs great on higher pressure rounds like 6mm ARC and 6mm Creedmoor. If one suppressor has to cover several platforms, the F762 is the versatile pick.
Q06HUB taper or QD, and what ships with each configuration?+
QD configurations ship with a DECOUPLR muzzle device. HUB configurations ship with a direct thread adapter. Both mounts have their strengths: we have noticed superior sound reduction from our QD variants, while HUB is the more versatile standard and works with other brands' mounts. The QD interface is proprietary to Blackbird.
Q07Do Blackbird suppressors work with other brands' mounts and muzzle devices?+
HUB configurations accept industry-standard 1.375-28 mounts. Our muzzle devices work with any 1x16L ACME thread HUB adapter or suppressor, and direct thread adapters are available in 1/2-28 and 5/8-24.
Q08Are there barrel length minimums or caliber restrictions?+
Published guidance is coming soon. If you are unsure about a specific barrel length or cartridge, reach out through the contact form and we will give you a straight answer for your setup.
Q09Are Blackbird suppressors rated for full-auto or sustained fire?+
Our HAYNES 282 suppressors are rated for full-auto and sustained firing schedules. Our Titanium cans are not; they are the weight-optimized choice for builds where every ounce counts.
Q10How do I install the suppressor and mounts correctly?+
Refer to the user manuals on our Support page for install and torque guidance specific to your mount.
Q11How do I clean and maintain my suppressor? Can it be disassembled?+
Blackbird suppressors are DMLS printed as a single piece and cannot be disassembled. There is nothing to take apart and nothing to lose. Every 2,000 rounds, soak the suppressor in a dedicated suppressor cleaning solution to break down carbon buildup and fouling.
Q12What does the lifetime warranty cover, and how do I make a claim?+
Every silencer is covered under a lifetime warranty, and the warranty covers everything. To make a claim, fill out the contact form on this site and we will take it from there.
Q13What should I do if my suppressor is damaged or shows a problem?+
Stop shooting it and reach out through the contact form. We will clarify what you are seeing and, if it needs it, replace it under warranty.
Q14Do you offer dealer, LE/MIL, or international sales?+
Dealer accounts are available directly through us or through our distributors; reach out via the contact form. An LE/MIL program is coming soon. We do not offer international sales.
